I put this up in the Snacks area as well, but if you're interested in messing around with a kinda neat music-oriented language, check out ChucK.  Very neat, and--although I haven't tried much more than turning my keyboard into an organ--I gather there's musical analysis ability (if you've ever seen Shazam on the iPhone, you know what I'm talking about).  Pretty neat, and pretty clean language.
